Advanced Digital Imaging
Seeing Beyond What the Eye Can Detect
Accurate diagnosis is the foundation of exceptional periodontal care. At Malloy Perio, we utilize advanced digital imaging technology to evaluate the health of your teeth, gums, supporting bone, and surrounding structures with exceptional precision.
By combining digital radiography with three-dimensional CBCT imaging when appropriate, Dr. Malloy can diagnose periodontal disease more accurately, identify problems earlier, and develop treatment plans tailored specifically to your needs.
Digital Dental X-Rays
Digital radiographs provide detailed images of your teeth and supporting bone while using significantly less radiation than traditional film-based X-rays.
Digital imaging allows us to immediately review high-quality images during your appointment, helping us explain our findings and discuss treatment options together.
Digital radiographs help us evaluate:
Bone levels around your teeth
Periodontal bone loss
Existing dental restorations
Tooth fractures
Root anatomy
Dental infections
Cysts and other abnormalities
Changes over time by comparing previous images
Because the images are instantly available, they become an important part of your comprehensive periodontal evaluation and ongoing care.
Cone Beam CT (CBCT) 3D Imaging
A Three-Dimensional View for More Precise Diagnosis
Traditional dental X-rays provide valuable information, but they create only a two-dimensional image. In certain situations, a three-dimensional view provides significantly more diagnostic information.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) produces highly detailed 3D images of your teeth, jawbone, supporting structures, and surrounding anatomy, allowing Dr. Malloy to evaluate conditions that cannot always be seen on conventional radiographs.
CBCT imaging is recommended only when the additional information will improve diagnosis or treatment planning.
When Is CBCT Used?
Three-dimensional imaging is especially valuable for:
Comprehensive periodontal evaluations
Assessing the extent and pattern of bone loss
Evaluating periodontal defects
Dental implant planning
Bone grafting and regenerative procedures
Tooth extractions
Evaluating impacted teeth
Assessing anatomical structures before surgery
Diagnosing certain infections or pathology
Better Information. Better Decisions.
Three-dimensional imaging allows us to evaluate your condition from every angle, helping us develop more precise, predictable, and conservative treatment plans.
For many patients, CBCT imaging provides critical information that simply cannot be obtained with traditional two-dimensional X-rays alone.
Technology That Supports Better Care
At Malloy Perio, technology is never used simply because it is available—it is used because it improves patient care.
Whether evaluating periodontal disease, planning regenerative procedures, preserving bone before implant placement, or diagnosing complex conditions, advanced digital imaging helps us make informed decisions that lead to better long-term outcomes.
Our goal is always the same: to provide the most accurate diagnosis, the most appropriate treatment, and the highest standard of care while preserving your oral health for years to come.
